Music may be the medium, but—at its core—the Overton Park Shell mission serves as a catalyst to strengthen the bond between communities. As the Federal Government shutdown, and rescission of SNAP benefits, leaves many families facing food insecurity, the Shell team and the Neighborhood Christian Centers are joining forces to ensure essential support is sustained.
Shell Pantry Days will provide a means for Memphians to meet the needs of their neighbors—maximizing the Neighborhood Christian Centers mission to address the realities of economic disparities through food donations.
"At Neighborhood Christian Centers, we believe that a true neighbor is not only there in the good times, but when times get hard—and especially in times of need,” said Ephie Johnson, NCC CEO. “It’s in those moments that compassion takes root and community becomes real.
From 12PM-6PM, the Mid-South community is invited to stock the stage with non-perishable, canned goods, household items, hygiene products, infant essentials, and more on the following dates:

Thursday, November 20th
Thursday, December 4th
Thursday, December 11th
All items will be sorted on-site, and transported to the Neighborhood Christian Centers’ Jackson Avenue location for distribution. Those who wish to provide hands-on support throughout the duration of Pantry Days can sign up for shifts.
